Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Julie Thomas, 33, has been shooting professionally on and off for various companies and herself for 13 years. Always the child with the camera, she grew into her first camera, a Canon AE1 Program SLR at age 16. At that time she ventured into malls, working for various retail companies such as Expressly Portraits (now the Picture People), and Glamour Shots.

At age 18, after learning a bit of the medium format Mamiya cameras, she started working for Austin Allen Studios, based out of San Leandro, California. She then became an independant contractor for them and travelled to contracted jobs on military bases in Los Angeles, San Antonio, Texas, Seattle, Washington, and more.

At 21, she moved to Sacramento, California and picked up her favorite hobby as a past time, and had to venture into the working 9-5 world. Photography was then put on the back burner, while she worked various jobs and tried to find her niche in the professional world.

A few years later she fell into a career which she really enjoys, Property Management. Second to photography, it was the perfect job for her to do full time while she did her dream shooting on the side for fun. She picked up website design, and photo-editing over the years as well, to add to her joy of photography.

Now at 33, she's enjoying her new Nikon, and shooting away. She's opened her first company, JMT PHOTOGRAPHICS, and loves to shoot everything....anything....and is in the midst of selling some of her work in a retail store nearby. She's building her professional portfolio, doing weddings, portraits, families, children, pets, and boudoir. While still new in the wedding field, she'd like to also find an additional photographer to assist in her (preferrably smaller) weddings; as they are very busy and hectic and almost always need that second photographer to assist.
